Sister Mitzi Gates // Week Thirty-Eight

This was one eventful week!!
Well to begin on Monday we had a great lesson to begin with the
Towrys. Brother towry has been coming to church and said he wants to
get back in so he can be worthy to baptize his daughter who is 6.
WAHOO!! He really wants this for him and his family. It's great to see
that change in him.
Then after we went over and visited Shirley and Richard Davis. We
shared pictures of the temple to Richard, Shirley is a member, just
less active. We actually committed Richard to baptize his dad, who
died, in the temple............. But we never committed Richard to
baptism........... So that's our plan for tonight!., haha we walked
out we were like "how did that happen?" Haha kinda funny.
Josh our investigator came back from Florida and told us he drank, and
smoked, and passed out on the beach and stuff. So That made me sad. We
taught him about Mosiah 18, the waters of Mormon and he priesthood
authority. He said on the way back on the airplane it had a lot of
turbulence, and so he got out his gospel library app on his phone and
read the Book of Mormon and that comforted him. That made me feel
better about his trip to Florida! We are still working with him and he
is progressing slowly.
Shirley and Reeda are someone we tracted into and we have been going
over. Reeda is very interested. She just had a knee replacement, so
she is home bound. But she is progressing slowly and we are so
grateful.
We drove clear out to Carthage and Elwood this week. We had a referral
who wanted a free bible 38 Miles one way. So we made a trek! Haha it's
so fun to see the small towns here. All the people are so humble and
friendly. I love it!
We were over visiting some people and we were walking up to this
apartment door and I saw this guy couldn't start his car, so I was
like hey can we jump start you? And we had cables, so we started him
up and I was like can we come back and teach you about our message?
And he was like yeah that's fine! Wahoo. Then this morning i prayed to
still have a missionary opportunity even though we have p day. So we
go to walmart and come out and again this girl tried to start her car
but it wouldn't turn over. So awkwardly I was like hey we have cables,
can we jump it? Haha she and her husband were like yes! I gave them a
pass along card and said to add us on Facebook. I am so grateful
Heavenly Father is letting us have simple opportunities to share the
gospel. I believe that the jumper cables in the car aren't for us,
they're for when we need to jump start people who are ready to hear
the message.
We played volleyball with the young women on Wednesday and there were
a couple nonmembers there so that was great. Then got Mexican ice
cream.
This week we also got in a car accident. Our poor cute car. We just
got done seeing Sue Tribble and I just said "let's go to sonic and get
a drink" I was like what the heck? I never want to stop. Even sister
Tenney was like woah you just said that, it wasn't me! So then I was
like well I'm not even thirsty and if this next appointment falls
through then we should. So she agreed to that. We had just come to a 4
way stop and we had stopped. And we started to go through and I look
over and this old lady in a red car didn't stop at the stop sign. So
BOOM we t-boned her car... She was born in 1929, she was 85 years old.
It was so weird. It was like slow motion. We barley missed hitting the
actual lady. So I just got out because we were both fine and the air
bag went off in the ladies car, we couldn't even get her car door
open. She was bleeding. It was so sad. Next thing we know we got cops,
ambulances, and fire trucks all coming over. They actually had us get
in the ambulance to check our vitals and to cool off. They had to fill
information out as well. I AM STILL SO MAD. because I feel like I
totally failed the test. The Holy Ghost tried to help us with telling
me to go to sonic. Ugh. That was not a fun call to the AP's... Or
Elder Johnson the vehicle coordinator.... or President Andersen. The
car is fine, the hood and bumper just need to be replaced. I feel like
that crash was all my fault. But after we went to sonic.
On Saturday Sister Gregory picked us up and took us all the way out to
her house to help paint her daughter Emma's room. Their reception
isn't good out there, small town probs, but then we saw we had a
voicemail from president saying I needed to call him back. So I did
and he asked me to train a new missionary..... I'm going to miss
Sister Tenney. She is totally different than me but she has been my
best companion. We were kinda down after that... I'm not sure why I
was called as a trainer because I'm still trying to figure out this
whole mission thing!! One of the elders is going to give me a blessing
tonight, so that will be great.
The rest of the time we were just saying goodbye to people and
packing. I really have learned so much from sister Tenney. She has
taught me the little things don't matter, and to just find joy from
your mission. You can work hard and have fun.
Well time for a new chapter in my mission. I am grateful for the
things I have learned so far. I can't believe I am almost half way
done. I still have a lot to learn. I finished reading the Book of
Mormon again in 2 transfers with the whole mission. I just can't
express my love for that book. It's amazing!! It's so easy to testify
of. Why wouldn't people want more knowledge about Jesus Christ? I am
grateful for all the love and support you all give me. I pray daily
for you all. Thanks for being such great examples! Pray for missionary
opportunities, they do happen!! I LOVE YOU!
