Sister Mitzi Gates // Week Thirty-Seven

Hope you all had a great 4th of July!! Also I'm so glad baby Kambree if hereHeavy black heartHeavy black heart
Well I feel like this week was sort of the same as last! Haha we had
Zone Meeting in Madison again. It was just our zone, and usually
president and sister Andersen don't come, but they came to ours! It's
always a treat to have them. They also brought Krispy Kreme donuts
because it was there one year mark one Thursday. Haha but I loved this
one! We had some great trainings by the zone leaders and sister
training leaders. I am so blessed to be able to keep getting that
spiritual boost from these!
On Thursdays we always played volleyball at the park. All of the
members that came, brought a non member friend! It was awesome. They
are doing great at inviting them to activities, now it's just I
visiting them to church! But it's a good break to play volleyball
through out the week.
Jeanette called me by my first name. Dang Facebook is giving it away!
But it was thee weirdest thing!! I was like what did you say? And she
was scared she offended me by calling me by my first name. It didn't
offended me, but I just hadn't heard it in awhile and forgot it was my
name! #missionprobs
For the Fourth of July the ward did a big pancake breakfast at the
park. It was so fun! Brother Hokansen made his famous "bigger than
your plate pancakes" we had a couple less actives show up, so it was
awesome! Then we did weekly planning, after Merenda Leon picked us and
the Lebanon Elders up and we went out to their house and did dinner
out there. After we played apples to apples and had a good time out
there. There dad who isn't a member was there and we shared the title
of liberty chapter. He loved that. Then we came home and got some
sparklers and did sparklers with the elders. We spelled things out
like IHeavy black heart️U and TNM (Tennessee Nashville mission) and BOM (Book of
Mormon). There was fireworks going off all around us. So it was a
great Fourth of July!! I love Holidays on my mission. I love seeing
peoples different traditions!
There is this guy Frank Longnecker who is a member. But we got a call
saying we needed to go visit him in the rehab senior home. So we did
and he completely lost his memory, they aren't sure what happened, but
he doesn't know anything. He didn't know he had kids, he didn't
remember anything from his life before. The weird thing is is when he
saw a picture of Christ he knew he believed in him. We are completely
re teaching him all the lessons, we had to explain the Book of Mormon,
restoration, and everything. We found out he does hold the priesthood
and is temple worthy and he was so excited to hear about that too! We
are just now telling him what the priesthood is though. He thinks
prophets are the best thing! Haha we showed him a Mormon message of
President Monson and he loved it!! It made me really step back and
appreciate all we have in the gospel. I truly am so grateful for the
things that make up The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Yesterday we talked about Temples in relief society. I LOVE the
temple. I had the chills the whole time and I just know of the power
and blessings it can bring us. A couple ladies shared experiences of
how they went every week to the temple and they had miracles happen
from it. One of my goals I have set is to always stay worthy so I can
enter the house of The Lord. Each week I want to go. I just know how
much it blesses us, and others on the other side. Why wouldn't you
want to help others? I can't wait to go!! I think we'll go in
September again! Wahoo.
We tracted into a couple people this week that are good potentials. We
really don't have anyone who is solid or has any dates. But we are
working hard!! There is one thing I really admire about people of the
south. Even though they have their religion they are pretty open to
talking about Christ. Except southern baptists. It's amazing to hear
how they have seen Gods hand in their life and how they can't wait to
meet Christ one day. I think out of anyone I'm benefiting the most
from all of this. My heart is beyond full from this past week. I love
you guys and hope you have a great week!! Remember good, better, best!
If your praying each night, good, read your scriptures too!! I love
you!
I'm going to Nashville today with a member!! So I'll email when I
can!! LOVE YOU!!
