Sister Mitzi Gates // Week Thirty-Five

Hello! Still no baby yet? I was hoping to be overloaded with pictures
in my email from Kambree being born! I'll keep praying;)
Another great week in Lebanon!
Well on Monday we tracted into these sweet old black women. One was a
baptist preacher, they were sisters. We talked about the plan of
salvation and they pretty much believe the same thing except for the 3
degrees of glory.
We visited a less active lady Ruth Dean who we haven't been able to
see, she let us in and we were walking to her. In the middle she was
like "come outside I need to take a smoke" okay. But I think we were
making her nervous, we just talked about her conversion story and
what's holding her back now. Sweet lady, she'll be back soon.
Sister Harbor went out to visit some members with us. We went out to
visit the Benitez and Butch and Lisa were there!! Seriously love them.
They are so excited to be baptized. It's still on for this Saturday in
the Mt. Juliet ward! Yay. Great visit.
On Wednesday we had Zone Conference in Murfreesboro. It was awesome!
We drove out there and had car inscriptions, I love Elder and Sister
Johnson! I'm going to be sad when they leave. But President trained on
seeing the eternal perspective of it all. Then Sister Andersen got up
and started with a story of when Sister Cotton and I first got to
Hendersonville when we white washed. The first visit we had was to
Bishop St. Onge, and he asked how long sister cotton had been out, 3
months and then asked how long id been out, I said 3 hours. Everyone
laughed. But she was saying that we were asking bishop what we needed
to do and he loved that. So that was cool. Later we split into groups
and had to talk about a topic, I was the only one talking! Haha no one
else would. But it was good. We were with another zone too, so it was
fun to see my friends. The missionaries who are leaving always bear
their testimony at the end and I always cry, because I just love them
and look up to them so much. The spirit is always strongest there.
Love Zone Conferences.
Then on the way back we get a call from a lady in the ward who is less
active and needs help cleaning her house, so we go over and she's a
hoarder. Like have you ever seen Extreme Hoarders on TLC? This was her
house. She lives in government housing too. I seriously couldn't do
it, there were bugs everywhere, and rat crap. I was going to cry.
Sister Tenney's a champ and helped out. But that's an experience I
never want to experience again on my mission.
On a lighter note, we had a lesson with Josh. I had this strong
feeling that we needed to teach the Word of Wisdom. So we prepared for
that. The first thing he says is I'm going to Florida in two weeks and
am going to get smashed with my friend. Ha we all looked at each other
and were like okay well we have a great lesson for you! He took it
well. Haha he said he is still going to drink with his friend in
Florida, but when he comes back that will be it. So that's good!
We also went over and visited Mary, she's a less active and she trains
Golden Retrievers. She gets a new dog every couple weeks. Well she had
this dog Charlie who was 18 months old and he gets very excited about
people coming over. So she lets him in and he jumps around on me and
HE PEED ALL OVER MY FEET. Seriously. At first I didn't think about it,
I thought he just got a drink and his mouth was wet. Then she was like
eh he just peed all over the floor. I almost cried. So gross!
On Sunday we were asked to do a talk for FHE for the Single Adults. So
we did. We talked about journal keeping and different ways you can
keep a journal. Then also about a bigger journal that is kept in
heaven, the book of life. That was fun to research and learn more
about. It went good though!
I am loving this area. Tracting an hour a day has brought so many
miracles. We usually have one person who listens and it's usually at
the last 10 minutes we tract. I love learning about different
religions as well. The people here really do love Their savior and
know him so well. That's something I love about the people here! They
have a strong testimony of him.
Trip to Nashville:
To start off, Monday part of my district decided to go to Nashville!
We woke up and rode the train station down, then walked around
Broadway for a little bit, saw the AT&T batman building, the CMT
headquarters, and the old Ryman building. I love it!! Then we walked
down to the Country Music Hall of Fame and got pictures. Then walked
up into the convention center right across the street and walked to
the top of that and took a bunch of pictures! Great view. Then we
walked over Shelby Bridge, we took more pictures. The river made me
wanna jump in, we were all hot and sweaty! Haha but LP field was right
there also. That's where they hold the Country Music Fest each year,
that happened a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to come back and actually
go to it! Then we walked to the WW1 memorial building. It was so cool!
That was right next to the state capital. Then we walked down Broadway
one last time and went through a couple stores. Then we went up to the
bus station and took us bus to the Grand ol Opry. We went shopping
there, the Elders did the pepper challenge, that was funny. Then we
had lunch and left. Then rode the bus back to the train station and
rode the train home. Country music was playing every where I went. I
can't wait for you to come out here!! Tennessee has my heart!
